Leander G. Chase
He was forced into mutiny in the Pacific but escaped and was adrift at sea two weeks without food or water. He was captured by Korean pirates and held as hostage. He served in the U. S Navy from 1917 to 1921 and during the first world war served in Naval Intelligence. In 1931 as a member of the naval reserve he was sent to China on a troop ship to train men.
